Sorry just read your comment! The sign was placed quite high up on what is now a medical clinic very close to Maida Vale Rd. North side of the street. At some point it was replaced by a brand new sign. I hoped to locate the old one but when I inquired with the road works? Iwas told that the vintage sign had fallen off the building and had been broken.
Can you tell us where in Abercorn Place you found this sign? An 1846 map by George Lucas shows that only the section between Hamilton Terrace and Edgware Road was called Abercorn Place. Further east it was known as Abbey Place at that time. Jeanne Strang Editor
