Swinging St John’s Wood in the early 1970s

These are scenes from my 10th or 11th birthday party on the Abbey Road Estate, either 1970 or 71. We were one of the first families to move onto the newly built estate at the end of Abbey Road. The Beatles had just released their Abbey Road album and all the road signs had been nicked! Some of us were quite ‘forward’ as evidenced in these photos and in keeping with the times. I envied my confident classmates, exhibiting this behaviour at MY party. I longed to have a girlfriend but would have to wait years!
