Trying to trace my mother from a wartime photo

I am trying to trace anyone who knew my mother, Sylvia Norgrove. I am her daughter and was born on AA Gunsite Primrose Hill in 1947. Does anyone know what the uniform is? or where the picture was taken?  She later married Jack Horning who was a REME.

  • The Uniform is the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force, known as WAAFs. The picture shows them all in best uniform with dignatories behind them which would indicate a formal occasion – possibly a ‘Passing Out Parade’ as there are no NCOs or Officers in the photo. If she was called up for National Service then this would possibly have been when she finished her basic training. There appears to be a couple of Coats of Arms behind them that may be City of Westminster/St Johns Wood and the structure behind them could be temporary or no longer exists. I would harbour a guess at St Johns Wood Church Gardens which would be a short march from Primrose Hill and would be perfect for a Public Parade.

I believe we may be related (FTDNA)! contact thru FTDNA or www. hudsonfamily.eu
