Elsie Rose Morgan was the daughter of chimney sweep Edward Reuben Morgan and was brought up with seven siblings in Violet Hill and Abbey Gardens. She was christened at St Mark’s , Hamilton Terrace and with her sisters had private singing and dancing lessons. Perhaps influenced by her uncle, actor Percy Cahill,  she had a career on the stage as an actress and dancer.

In 1902 she was in a Charles Raymond and Philip Yorke production in London which also had Marie Lloyd on the cast list.  in 1905 she was performing in Paris and the following year aged 23 on tour in USA which  included Chicago, Cleveland, Toledo and other places in Ohio.  The following year she was performing for Milton Bode of The County Theatre, Reading, Berks for £2 a week plus 3rd class rail fare. There were a great many rules and regulations that the artistes had to agree to, and any infringement of them meant instant dismissal. On another tour of America in 1910 she met her future husband and stayed in New York but returned to visit her family at 9 Violet Hill in 1935.  She died in New York in 1946.
