  • Hello Alan, this is Derek James, I lived at 20 Abbey Gardens, with my mum and dad, Margaret and Tony, and sister Carol-Ann. I remember your parents, Labour Supporters, along with Councillors, June Bremner, I’m still in touch with all the Bremner’s, as well as the Scannell’s, no. 18, and Harvey’s, end on street but on Abbey Road. Also there was the Zac’s strong trades union Maoist, and their son Jojo, think he’s just Jo now, didn’t he become a BBC producer? Then in the same building, but below Timmie(?) and his parents Ann(?) and Ron. My sister married Ron’s nephew, Alan, some years later
( subsequently divorced). Then there was Connie next door. She worked at Bucks Club, and invented the “ Bucks Fizz “ !! Then later I met Reg Smith, a BBC radio producer, who also live in the gardens, it was at the time my dad had become a BBC commissionaire, having spent most of his life as an aircraft fitter at Handley Page, and I got an invitation to see Reg at work, quite a day. Remember the big chill, when was that 1963? And the Ice Tunnel which we made in the Park?
Did you try my go cart out, made by my dad when at “ Pages “. It had titanium side panels! Remember you making a model boat !
    Be safe.
