Athenaeum Club in St John's Wood - 1850 until the First World War

The local Athenaeum  club was established in the 1850s and continued until some time in the First World War, occupying a site near the north-eastern corner of Grove End Road, opposite the Eyre Arms and Assembly Rooms. It had a programme of lecture meetings and a librarian but towards the end of its existence appears to have become a bridge club.
