Samples from the creative writing and narrative workshop

This is a selection of creative writing created in the workshop led by David Ward. After various hot-seating drama exercises and and informal group play, the children were asked to write an imaginative diary entry, letter or memoir excerpt describing Samuel Godley’s personal experience. The aim was to practice empathy, and develop a story of Samuel Godley as a real man, lending him a history like the one that Sergant Major Playford wrote for himself. These were done by children from four participating classes at Barrow Hill Junior School, Westminster Cathedral Catholic Primary School and St Saviour’s Church of England Primary School
